Fixing the flooding
The C-14 Pump Station broke ground in April 2026, a $12 million project to move stormwater out of our canals faster. Mayor Borgelin remembers water above his knee in 2018. This is the fix.

Help fixing up your home
The Residential Rehabilitation and Hardening program gives homeowners up to $50,000 for a new roof, impact windows, or accessibility upgrades. The city also ran Hardening My Property 2.0 for roof and window replacement. Applications go through the city's Grants office.

Public safety, renewed
The Commission renewed the city's law enforcement agreement with the Broward Sheriff's Office for four more years, through 2030.

Grants for local businesses
The Commercial Revitalization Program helps local businesses fix up storefronts, signage, and lighting, or complete a full renovation. Businesses must be licensed in the city and commit to staying at least five years.

A clearer city budget
Mayor Borgelin pushed to give the Office of the Mayor its own separate budget, apart from other commissioners' offices. He said it was hard to get clear answers on spending without it.

A voice at the state level
Mayor Borgelin was appointed to a Florida League of Cities committee, representing North Lauderdale in decisions that reach city halls statewide.

About Samson
A life built on service
Samson Borgelin was born in Haiti and grew up in an orphanage in Les Cayes after losing his family young.
He earned two master's degrees from Trinity International University and became an ordained minister. He and his wife Dorothy have three sons: Shamyr, Shamarly, and Shanyder.
Borgelin was elected to the North Lauderdale City Commission in 2016. He became Mayor in November 2022, the first Haitian-American mayor in the city's history.
